Re-Drafting The Ridiculously Talented 2012 NFL Draft

30. San Francisco 49ers: Vontaze Burfict

Original Spot For Burfict: Undrafted
Original 30th Pick: A.J. Jenkins – WR

There’s the good and the bad when it comes to Burfict. The Los Angeles native has a true nose for the football. Fast and aggressive, Burfict has accumulated three seasons with at least 100 tackles — including the 2013 season in which he had an eye-popping 171 combined tackles. He’s supremely gifted as a run-stuffing MIKE linebacker. For the most part, he’s also remained relatively healthy.

On the other side of the coin, it’s plainly evident that Burfict struggles with extracurricular activity. He’s always involving himself in some sort of scrum post-play or even during the play. His emotions often get the best of him — to the point where Burfict has undoubtedly developed a reputation as a dirty player. Over the course of his six year career, Burfict has been fined upwards of $4 million for late hits or other transgressions. He’s a supreme talent — though teams will have to weigh whether it’s worth it to draft him.
