21. Alex Len — 5th Overall, 2013
It’s never a good sign when you can’t win the starting gig over a 35-year old Tyson Chandler.
Len, like most members of the Phoenix Suns, has struggled mightily over the past half-decade. The Suns drafted him knowing that he would be a bit of a project. Coming out of Maryland, Len was hyped as a tremendous athlete with upside. The Ukrainian has failed to meet expectations.
Rebounding is just about the only thing Len does at an NBA-level. He’s an inconsistent jump shooter, clunky in the post, and fouls at a high-rate. Even with all of the troubles Phoenix has had in their frontcourt, Len has started in less than half of the games he’s appeared in, and is averaging under 20 minutes per game over his career.
